Fritsch Milling and Sizing

BALL MILLS

Laboratory Ball Mills are used for rapid batchwise comminution of medium-hard, soft, brittle, fibrous, temperature-sensitive and moist samples down to the finest particle sizes. The comminution of the material to be ground takes place through impact and friction between the grinding balls and the inside wall of the grinding bowl, respectively the mortar. Grinding can be performed dry or wet, and in some cases with liquid nitrogen. In addition to comminution Ball Mills are also useful in the lab for mixing and homogenizing. Grinding sets of different materials are available to prevent undesired abrasion.
